it's sunday surrounded by a recycling bin of sunday papers music magazines ulysses the collected allen ginsberg a terrible book about the rolling stones my dog and sheffield united playing middlesbrough and mpthrees of the alternately awe inspiring and inspiring new album by stephen malkmus and the jicks – real emotional trash. middlesbrough are wearing very fetching orange shorts – gareth southgate their manager has some crayons and eleven paper dolls with press out kits he can colour in – it's a beautiful game. this year i've only got out of bed to walk the dog in the bright sunshine and have my head modeled in terracotta by jon edgar whilst being filmed by anne robinson for the film. the film is being edited in canada by famous documentarians who specialise in films about natural disasters which makes them more than qualified to wrap up my thirty years in indie rock. oh not indie rock i've read mojo and i'm not indie rock. i wonder what. when we were poor we stayed in bed because it saved us heating the rooms. you stayed in bed as long as you could so that perhaps you could get away with one meal and as much instant coffee as you could drink. i had a cassette player near the bed and i would listen to the second talking heads album. i hope the film will be interesting enough for more than those who bought runout groove and visit these interweb disquisitions. if not i hope you enjoy my own personal renaldo and clara – a journey through the past if you will – a document well worth eating. we should have a rough cut in nine weeks and then i have to mix the sound and record the two new tracks. the title song – memory and desire – the film is called memory and desire; thirty years in the wilderness with stephen duffy & the lilac time – and a epitaphetic version of kiss me for the end credits. we are however releasing another single off runout groove – a single disguised as a mini album of what we have left in the cupboard. this will happen in april and claire an i will be doing a book tour to sell the rest of the limited edition book we still have resting in the potting shed. we also have reason to believe that the double album entitled "memory and desire; thirty years in the wilderness with stephen duffy & the lilac time" will also be released this year.
