we hit a weather balloon on the way back to london. eight flights and four dates into the tour. what a strange time can be had - by the pool in a country that houses it's people in corrugated iron sheds - or in a jacuzzi in the middle of a desert city whilst everyone sits in perpetual gridlock on the way to the mall. coming to countries to play the rock show and to get dispirited by the ways of life. flying into mexico city last year wondering if i'd been born there would i have escaped? it seemed hard enough to get out of birmingham - and to have done it through writing songs - the pretentiousness of pop culture when put next to a life in a township. and then. . . reading innocent when you dream the tom waits reader on the way home and wondering what to do next x |
