as nietzsche once said 'are you visiting a woman? do not forget your whip!'

i went into the studio on friday and recorded five tunes - before lunch i couldn't play or sing but then things got easier - but not much. i'd forgotten the moments (hours/days) of doom inspired by recording. i'd of course imagined breezing in and knocking down an album in a few hours - & of course it would be on par with blood on the tapes - but instead i got five acoustic guitar and vocal tracks down that will become the next stephen duffy/the lilac time album - which is all that was required really. i left my camera somewhere so there aren't any films or pictures yet - but it'll turn up. i'll go in again this week an try and put the other twelve down - then we can decide what will be on the this album and what will become lilac9. some of the songs are six minutes long so i think i already have enough for two albums - i also hate long cd's - records should be 40 minutes long - less - if your going to shuffle and skip have 30.
i borrowed my mothers camera so you can see wales in photos.
elliot smiths new moon arrived this morning - incredible unreleased stuff - andy strange has offered me his teac 8 track and i think i will get it having been reminded of elliots amazing 8 track recordings. mavis staples has a brilliant new album out produced by ry cooder - sounds like her time out of mind.
i haven't shaved for 3 weeks - i'm almost 47

i start recording the next album on friday. the songs are finished and i can almost sing and play them. we've decided our label will be called bogus frontage. we have a wonderful label design that we will unveil soon. we also now have an official my space page for those of you too lazy to come here every so often - i know you are so very busy wasting time over there. there's nothing on it yet but we'll be posting films and work in progress stuff from the making of the album here and there - so do what you will. i was very disappointed that there isn't a musical category: poetry set to music - so instead we are folk acoustical or something nothing. i've been listening to guitar slim this week - last week it was skip james - the week before slim harpo. i think i may be onto something. how did i end up with tintin? i should've been slim synth or slim tin. the new album is very much the album that follows "keep going" - which is lucky. i was worried i'd never be able to come up with anything better than the last one - i think i have and now i just have to record it - how difficult can that be? you just press record x |
