| Nikki Sudden RIP | ||
| Nikki was a lovely enthusiastic musician and songwriter. I first met him at the Crown in Birmingham at a Swell Maps gig. He wrote the first review of anything I ever did in Zigzag. And indeed he loved rock n roll. love ya - stay cool as he would've signed off x | ||

| strange folk | ||
| the strange folk album on albion (STRGCD01) is a wonderful thing. we are track 2 with morning sun. between beth gibbons and donovan - strange folk indeed. this site went down but at least it was more mysterious than the reality of going to bermondsey everyday to rehearse. we're off to south africa next week so i'll start taking pictures again. lilac 1, 2 and 3 are being repackaged as i type for a May re release - they look lovely and as they should have back then. i think you look lovely too x | ||

| Running On Empty | ||
|
Hello 2006 - Hello friends and casual web browsers. Back in California for the third January in succession - pretty soon I'll be able to remember the lyrics to Death Cab for Cutie songs. Before I left I did a huge interview with Caitlin for an article in the next issue of The Word. This was both handy and weird as I was staying in Caitlin & Peters spare room at the time. The excuse was the re release of I Love My Friends with the 7 extra tracks. How I left off Mao Badge & In The Evening of Her Day I can't imagine. I'm glad they made it eventually. Work has begun on the re release of the first three Lilac albums with assorted songs from BBC session and b sides. They will be released in the rejected artwork with liner notes in which I sneer at my younger self and his inability to write lyrics that make sense or sing them in tune. I haven't written them yet so maybe they'll just be about our trousers. This year is the 20th anniversary of The Lilac Time by The Lilac Time. Enjoyed The Greatest by Cat Power & the new Belle & Sebastian album on the way over. Really loved Rabbit Fur Coat by Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins when I heard it on Saturday night. I will be in line on January 24th to buy it. Photo's in the Photo section may appear out of sequence now as I threw my camera into a hot bath on new years day just after I'd resolved not to. Thanks for all the e-mails. Sorry I don't answer anymore. I will make another record - but I don't think it will be this year. I hope you all have a great time - it would be wasteful not to x |
