| the art of letters will come to an end before a.d. 2000 - i shall survive as a curiosity | ||
| today i rehearsed for the show - we'll play 25 songs from 11 albums - or is it 12 - it gets confusing - not as confusing as jupe longue though - luckily i only play tambourine on that one. my conclusion is there are a lot of chords and a lot of words - several tunings necessitating a shed of guitars and not much time to dilly dally - i'm suggesting men an tol will entertain you from 7 30 until 8.00 & then we'll play until 9.00 - at which point you can spend 30 minutes in the bar discussing the finer points of chords words & sheds - then we will return and play until they throw us out. there is swag - pictures of t shirts are in photos - after the show we will sell what's left in our shop at this our interweb home. and on we go - the mini album happy birthday peace will be out in february and the film now called memory & desire should be ready for the summer. it seems to be getting dark now x | ||

so the lilac time by the lilac time came out twenty years ago yesterday on swordfish records birmingham england - yesterday i wrote a song that starts out describing st pauls in the blitz - so life goes on. twenty years of the lilac time and next year thirty since we started the durans - and alarmingly i'm only twenty nine. fireworks all over parliament hill fields and rehearsing for the show at the queen elizabeth hall on the 15th - which songs to play from all of the fifteen or sixteen albums - and how many more shows can we afford to play as a six piece with four friendly helpers? the picture of david blue by wim wenders always looked like my future. now albums don't exists - and nobody ever bought ours anyway - is creating mp3's for a few people to stumble over on our website the only way - when we released 2000 vinyl albums on swordfish twenty years ago did we think we'd still be playing together - enjoying playing the same songs? any questions? don't know what i'm trying to say - the film goes well - if anyone's seen our rabid cult audience could you remind them to be rabid? - look after your pets in the the firework maelstrom - mind you guy fawkes rules from october to december these days - and happy birthday the lilac time x |

i was going to give up and then i read this over at pattismith. . . EZRA POUND Poet, critic and translator October 30, 1885 - November 1, 1972 SALUTATION O generation of the thoroughly smug and thoroughly uncomfortable, I have seen fishermen picnicking in the sun, I have seen them with untidy families, I have seen their smiles full of teeth and heard ungainly laughter. And I am happier than you are, And they were happier than I am; And the fish swim in the lake and do not even own clothing. --Ezra Pound x |
